Budmouth College protesters lobbied councillors arriving for the first Weymouth town council meeting.

They handed out leaflets asking individual councillors to support their campaign to reject Aspirations Academy take over in September.

The group will also be at the first Dorset Council meeting in Dorchester tomorrow.

“We intend to keep up the pressure on local councillors and others, including the local MP, to ensure that this doesn't happen. There has already been proposals for cost cutting and job losses which nobody wants,” said one of the group.

Their leaflet says that the group of parents, grandparents, staff, students and local community stakeholders are committed to keeping “Budmouth as a unique school accountable to the local community.”

The topic was not discussed by Weymouth town councillors last night but there will be at least one question about the school at the Dorset Council meeting at South Walks House in Dorchester tomorrow where the meeting starts at 10am.
