The bank holiday will be bouncing for little ones as a giant inflatable theme park comes to Weymouth.

The South West Inflatable Theme Park was started in Cornwall by Liam Grimshaw, 29, and Poppy Carloss, 23, but now they are expanding their operation and bringing the park to Dorset for the first time.

It's strictly for children though – aimed at those 13 years and under.

Redlands Community Sports Hub will host the giant obstacle course on the bank holiday weekend, Saturday, May 25 to Monday, May 27.

Due to the size of the sports centre's car park, there will be a park and ride facility in operation.

Mr Grimshaw said: “We started off two years ago with one bouncy castle travelling around shows and events and we kept investing in more inflatables.

“After our first full summer we had noted that pitch fees were going up and we were paying silly prices to ensure we got the events, so my partner Poppy and I thought about holding our own events. We had a few ideas floating around but the one that stuck out was the inflatable theme park. In 2018 we decided to try it out and from day one we knew this was the route we wanted to go.

“Last year we spent August touring around Cornwall and Devon, and it proved massively popular.

“For this year we have filled our diary up so quick as everyone wants this new type of event in their town. I researched the Dorset area and to my understanding no one has tried this event in Dorset, so we decided to give it a go."

Session times on each of the days are 10am-12pm, 12.30pm-2.30pm and 3pm-5pm.

For £6 per child, they will receive unlimited access to 10 large inflatables, a visit from Mickey and Minnie mouse and face painting. Food and drink will be available. Adults go free but cannot go on the inflatables.

There will be a soft play area for smaller children under the age of five with a smaller castle in. This area will be looked after by Iggle Piggle from In The Night Garden.

The organisers stressed their commitment to safety at their events and have a medical team at the site.
