Rail passengers could be facing delays on the Weymouth to London Waterloo line after there was a technical fault.
South Western Railway announced that, due to a problem with a set of points at London Waterloo, some lines are blocked and train services running to and from Waterloo may be delayed or revised. This could affect passengers travelling to and from Weymouth until about 4pm today (May 16).
Network Rail, who owns and maintains the railway infrastructure, has been advised of this issue and their engineers are on the way to rectify the problem.
South Western said: "A set of points is the part of the track that moves, allowing trains to divert to different lines, in this case the issue means we are unable to use platforms two or three at London Waterloo. These platforms are used by our suburban services, and therefore it will be those that are affected.
"For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.
"We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey."
