WEST Dorset residents are being encouraged to open their gardens for charity.

Diverse Abilities, which supports children and adults in Dorset with profound physical or learning disabilities, is looking for the best, brightest and most beautiful gardens in the county.

The charity is getting gardeners involved to open their gardens between June and August to raise funds through entry fees, refreshment stalls or selling plants.

Daisy Roe, corporate and community fundraiser at Diverse Abilities, said: “We are very excited about our first open gardens initiative.

“If you have a garden you are proud of and are happy to open it up to the public to help us raise vital funds for children and adults living with disabilities across the country, then come and get dug in.

“You can open for a full day or just a few hours.”
