The person killed on the railway line at Parkstone, near Poole on Wednesday afternoon was a man in his 50s, police confirmed.

As reported, officers were called to reports of a casualty at the station just after midday.

All trains between Bournemouth and Weymouth were suspended throughout the afternoon.

A spokesperson from British Transport Police said: “Officers were called at 12.05pm to Parkstone station in Poole following a report of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended.

“However, sadly a person has been pronounced dead."
