Dorset Council’s Fine Foundation Gallery at Durlston Country Park will host an exhibition by Purbeck artist Heather Gibbons as part of the Purbeck Art Weeks Festival.

Heather’s fascination with the Purbeck landscape has been a source of inspiration over many years. Her oil paintings explore the landscape and geology of the coast.

Her work reflects the moods of nature with diverse weather situations providing a never-ending wealth of inspiration through colour, texture, line and shape.

Heather said: “I do not consider the land of Purbeck pretty in the accepted sense of the word. There is a wildness here which captivates and demands attention through all weathers and seasons.

"Shapes, lines, pattern and texture can be found in the landscapes and coastal geology of the place – much of which automatically lends itself to semi-abstraction and, in some cases, reinvention of certain locations.”

Jessica Evans, community engagement assistant at Durlston Country Park, said: “It is very exciting to work with an artist who not only exhibits beautiful work but has also tied it in with the Pleasure Grounds Project here, so we are really looking forward to this exhibition.”

Th exhibition will run from May 25 to June 9, from 10am-5pm.
