A new breed of dog agility event is coming to Dorset this year with 'Super Hoopers'.

It is a new canine sport that has become increasingly popular in the UK, with dogs running through hoops, tunnels and around barrels on a low-impact course.

It is ideal for all types of dogs, even three-legged dogs.

Carol Bentley, from Purbeck Agility Group, is running classes in Dorset.

She said: “I've seen the difference Hoopers has made to the lifestyle of both dogs and owners.

“Dogs lacking focus gain drive and dogs that couldn't, or didn't, previously partake in any other activity suddenly have a whole new passion and lease of life.

“It is inclusive for people as well. Those with limited mobility discover distance handling so they can send their dog round the course instead of trying to run with their canine friend. You can see how much the dogs - and their owners - enjoy the sport.”

An event took place at Milborne St Andrew Sports Club in Milborne St Andrew at the weekend.

Future events are scheduled at locations in Dorset for June 22, July 27 and August 17. It is hoped that these will be held in Purbeck Agility Group's agility field near Corfe Castle.

Natterjacks Vets will be the veterinary care partner and key sponsor at the summer Super Hoopers events Carol is organising.
