A girl donated her hair to a charity that makes wigs for children undergoing chemotherapy.

Charlotte Anna Pinnow, 10, had her hair cut to donate to the Little Princess Trust on Saturday, May 18 at hairdresser shop Toni and Guy in Dorchester.

The Little Princess Trust is a charity that offers free real hair wigs for children and young people up to age 24 who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.

Charlotte said: “I decided to cut and donate my hair after very long time of thinking.

“When I first thought of doing this, I reminded myself how I miss my great grandma who died of cancer few years ago.

“After watching and reading few stories about children and people with cancer I made a decision to donate my 77cm long hair to charity.”

The charity started in 2006 and works with a network of salons to provide the wigs for children who need them.

These real hair wigs can be styled according to the wearer’s wishes.

Over the years, the charity has donated more than 7,500 wigs to young people across the UK and Ireland, and they are looking to expand their services further into Europe.

In 2016 The Little Princess Trust also started to offer grants and support for the development of new cancer treatments.

So far, they have donated £2.8m to 34 projects.

Charlotte’s mother, Petra Hamplova, said: “What I thought about Charlotte when she told me one evening that she has decided to cut her hair and donate was, what a lovely and caring child I have.

“I burst in tears and gave her big hug.

“Then we sat down and had a talk about it and also looked what charity she would like to do it.

“I am very proud of my daughter Charlotte, who is so brave.”

Charlotte and her mother are also raising further money for the Little Princess Trust, and they have a charity jug in the Royal Oak Wetherspoon in Dorchester.
