The weather is hotting up and, with people flocking to the coast for half-term, the BeachWise coastal community partnership has the perfect online tool to promote safe, enjoyable fun on the beach.

The BeachWise online tool, www.beachwise.uk, brings together beach safety advice and useful information and offers 20 top tips to help beachgoers enjoy a safe, fun, healthy and relaxing day by the sea.

Malcolm Bell, Chairman of the BeachWise Forum ,said: “As well as highlighting ways to enjoy our region’s beautiful beaches, BeachWise promotes clean bathing waters. After all, the coastline is what makes our region so special, attracting millions of visitors a year whilst being home to many local communities. And we all have a role to play in keeping it that way.”

The South West has some of the finest bathing waters and beaches in Europe and was awarded 35 Seaside Awards by Keep Britain Tidy. These awards are presented to the best beaches in England and celebrate the quality and diversity of our coastline.

The South West Water region was also awarded 21 Blue Flags – an international award presented to well managed beaches with excellent water quality and environmental education programmes.

The BeachWise coastal community partnership was formed in the South West in 2016

The bathing water season runs from 15 May – 30 September

The BeachWise Forum met on Friday 17 May and meets every six months, at the start and end of the bathing water season to review bathing water quality and how we can keep our beaches clean.
