A taste trail to tantalise your taste buds before one of the town’s most popular events is now on.

The Bridport Food Festival Taste Trail is taking place at venues across the town, which are offering special menus and offers to celebrate local food and drink.

It will be taking place until June 15, when the popular Bridport Food Festival will be taking place at Asker Meadows.

The 15 venues taking part include Alembic Canteen at Bridport LSi, Animal House with dog biscuits, R J Balson and Son butchers, Beach and Barnicott, Café Bean, Dark Bear bar in Aroma café, Gelateria Beppino, The George Hotel in South Street, the Market House, Martin’s Bar and Restaurant, Rise in West Bay, The Stables, Taj Mahal, Washingpool Farmers Kitchen and West Bay Tea Rooms.

Offers include special sausages, selected menus and meals, tea and cake, special offers on cocktails, crumble and ice cream, bites and nibbles, Dorset savoury tea and cream tea and some homemade liver and chicken treats for dogs.

Those who visit one of the venues and try one of their dishes are encouraged to post it on social media with #bridporttastetrail.

Bridport Food Festival will be taking place on Saturday, June 15 from 9.30am to 5pm, with the beer festival going on until 11pm.

There will be a host of local producers and food suppliers offering samples and treats to take home as well as a range of hot food to go.

Alongside the food stalls, cookery demonstrations will be held in the cookery theatre throughout the day, the Festival tea Tent will offer tea, cake and a rest and a marquee for children to join in with free hands-on and edible foodie activities.

A new competition joins this year's event. Bridport Bake It! aims to find the best young and adult bakers in the town and is open to all amateur bakers of all ages.

It is free to enter the six classes, each of which have two categories.
