An application for 14 homes on the site of a Cerne Abbas woodworking business off Acreman Street has been approved.

The application, by Willton Homes Ltd, is for 0.4 hectares of the site occupied by R L Trim which specialised in making wooden poles and other items for marquees and camping, until it closed at the end of December when owner, Colin Trim, retired. The business had been started by his father.

The application to Dorset Council is to demolish the existing commercial buildings on the site, previously used by the business, and to build up six two-bed homes; three three-bed and three of four or more bedroom homes.

The agreed application says all will be finished with stone quoins, render and slate effect tiles.
