Weymouth Town Council has vacant allotment plots at three sites across the town.

If you are looking to take up allotment gardening then there is now an opportunity with plots currently available at Sandsfoot allotments on the corner of Rylands Lane, Westham Crossroads allotments on the corner of Abbotsbury Road and Chickerell Road, and White Roughet allotments on Barclay Road.

The council says allotments are an excellent way of getting outdoors, exercising, meeting new friends and most of all, growing healthy, low cost fruit and vegetables. Allotments can also provide a varied and valued habitat for wild plants and animals not to mention that locally grown food doesn’t have to be transported long distances, which all helps reduce pollution.

Councillor Graham Lambert said: “Growing your own veg is the ultimate 'feel good' experience. Feel good about the outdoor exercise involved in growing. Feel good about feeding friends and family the freshest of food. Feel good about the environmental benefits as you reduce your dependence on supermarkets. Sign up for an allotment now.”
