Thunderstorms were forecast to hit Dorset this afternoon (Wednesday)- with the Met Office warning that it could bring some travel disruption and flooding.

A yellow weather warning, meaning be aware, has been issued for most of the south of England, including parts of Dorset.

It was be in effect from from 1pm until 11pm.

The Met Office has warned people to expect flooding and disruption.

Flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly, causing damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.

Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, which could put lives in danger.

Travel disruption is expected, as there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services where flooding or lightning strikes occur.

Spray and sudden flooding could also lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

Some communities might become cut off if roads flood.

Power cuts might occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.
