Weymouth RNLI all-weather lifeboat was launched yesterday afternoon to reports of a yacht in difficulties four miles south west of Portland Bill.
A 36ft yacht with two people onboard had been on passage from Brixham to Portland when they became becalmed and were also suffering engine failure. They radioed a Pan Pan call to Solent Coastguard requesting assistance.
A vessel nearby responded to the call and established a tow.
When Weymouth lifeboat arrived on scene they took over the tow and brought the yacht back to Weymouth harbour arriving at 6pm and tying the yacht up to the pontoons near to the Pavilion.
