A MAN was airlifted to hospital with serious head injuries after falling down the stairs at a Bournemouth pub at the weekend.
The man had been out at the Christopher Creeke in Holdenhurst Road when he fell at around 10.50pm.
The air ambulance landed in Meyrick Park and the man was rushed to Southampton General Hospital, where it is understood he is critically ill.
A spokesperson from South Western Ambulance Service said: "A male patient was reported to have fallen.
"We responded with two ambulances and a senior paramedic, as well as the air ambulance.
"The patient was treated on scene and taken onto hospital for further treatment by the air ambulance critical care team."
The Christopher Creeke is a branch of Wetherspoon. A spokesperson for the company said: "We are fully aware of this distressing incident.
"The thoughts of all the staff and customers at the pub are with the gentleman and his family.
"We won't be saying anything more on this matter."
