THE bride wore a striking purple frock while the groom turned out in his Sunday best.

Even some of the guests donned their black ties and top hats for what has to be the dog world’s wedding of the year.

Two loved-up pooches tied the knot while up to 200 canine guests looked on in an event organised by their owners to raise hundreds of pounds for charity.

The wedding of Tyler, a spoodle – a springer spaniel poodle – and Molly, a cockerpoo, was set up by dog lover Trina Boycey who owns the Old Ox Inn in Shillingstone.

The 62-year-old, who is Tyler’s owner, has had a tumour since 1985 and was given radiotherapy to shrink it; however she said she is waiting for test results from the hospital after finding that another small tumour has been growing.

She staged the dog wedding, which even had a fake vicar, to raise £600 in aid of the neurology unit at Southampton General Hospital where she has been treated.

The event, which which was held at the Old Ox, included a marquee for the guests.

She said: “Southampton is such a good hospital and so I wanted to do something.
“We’ve wanted to do a dog wedding for months – we had dog ice cream being sold, we even put ‘Just Married’ on the back of the dog’s car and people thought it was great.”

However, it turned out to be just puppy love for the newlyweds. Trina said: “We gave the dogs marriage certificates, but they’ve already split up, so we’re going to eventually host a divorce party.”
