DRIVERS face delays as repairs are carried out to some of Dorset’s busiest roads.

For three weeks, Dorset Highways contractor Eurovia Specialist Treatments will be carrying out premium surface dressings on large sections of A and B roads.

The treatment will keep the roads in good condition for longer and protect from water damage.
All works will be carried out off-peak between 9am and 4pm, with all sites using stop/go boards and convoy working, where a vehicle travelling at 10mph will lead drivers through the area.

The roads affected are:
A354 Basan Hill to Milborne St. Andrew will be closed from Monday, June 17 to Tuesday, June 18.

A354 Milborne St. Andrew to Winterborne Whitechurch will be closed from Tuesday, June 18 to Wednesday, June 19.

A354 Winterborne Kingston to Thornicombe will be closed from Wednesday, June 19 to Friday, June 21.

Cllr Ray Bryan, Dorset Council portfolio holder for highways, transport and environment said:
“Surface dressing is an ideal way to restore road surfaces where the road is in an otherwise good condition, rather than spending money on resurfacing and removing perfectly healthy layers of road.

“There are some misconceptions about surface dressing, but it is a long-term treatment to prolong the life of our roads and it is cost-effective, meaning we can repair more of our network.

“There is never an easy way to carry out repairs, but we do try to minimise disruption wherever possible.”

Motorists have been advised to allow extra time for journeys or to find alternative routes.
The work is weather dependent and dates may be subject to change.
