WHY was it necessary to dig up so much of the beautiful grassy bank and surrounding green area on the recreation ground next to the children’s playground in Swanage?
Why must a large part of it be tarmacked over?
For four weeks the whole area has been a ghastly, muddy building site, with cranes, huge diggers, lorries, barrows, piles of stone slabs, metal barriers, wire fencing and other machinery, all left around at the weekends, all at this time of the year of long light evenings when our holidaymakers usually sit, walk and play in this beautiful part of Swanage.
There was plenty of seating area already, and people loved sitting on the grassy banks for concerts, spreading their rugs and bringing picnic chairs.
Please no more spoiling of what was a beautiful part of Swanage.
