TWO ten-year-old boys have been raising money for the Bus Shelter Dorset by completing the three peaks challenge.

Ollie and George Ebdon are twins from Blandford who have climbed three mountains in five days. So far they have raised more than £1,000 for the Weymouth-based homelessness charity.

Together with their parents, the boys have travelled 1,341 miles, walked 27 miles and climbed more than 3,000 metres to complete the three peaks challenge of Snowdon, Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike.

Leanne Ebdon, the boys' mother, said: "George was heavily impacted by the number of homeless people on the streets of London during a visit over the Christmas holidays. This led him to write to the Queen, a correspondent responded and also forwarded his letter to the housing minister.

"Since this trip George has been helping his grandmother cook for the homeless guests at the Dorset Bus Shelter when he can and also regularly donates his pocket money to homeless.

"George desperately wanted to raise money for the Dorset Bus Shelter, he hopes they may be able to have more guests. He asked us if he could do the three peaks challenge to raise some money.

"It was all his idea, we have always wanted to do the three peaks but George asked if we could do it to raise money for the homeless.

"We went to London and went to see Big Ben but he was actually really sad. He was crying and saying that he had a headache but he later said that he was really upset by the homeless people.

"This is an incredibly hard challenge for two boys their age but they have been spurred on by the support and donations and have so far smashed their hopes of raising £100 for the Dorset Bus Shelter.

"We only set out to raise £100 but we kept having to put the limit up and it's now more than £1,000. It's amazing for them.

"I think it's really good because it shows him that we can make a difference and that he is helping."

George said: "I saw all of the homeless people and I felt sad because I have a home and they don't.

"I hope the money gets some food, blankets and cushions."
