A vintage sign hanging in the same place for 60 years has been stolen.
The Duckhams oil sign was removed from a garage after a passer-by asked staff if it was for sale.
The sign, which is yellow, measures 1ft by 3ft and features a working thermometer in the middle, had been on a wall outside of Thornford Garage in Sherborne for more than 60 years.
Sherborne police said a man aged in his 20s in a dark coloured Mazda MX asked the garage owner if the sign was for sale. The owner told him that it was not.
On the afternoon of Monday, June 17, the sign was stolen between 3pm and 5.30pm.
Anyone who has any information should contact Dorset Police on 101 or via dorset.police.uk/do-it-online quoting incident number 18-0139.
