Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on the A35 east of Bere Regis.

The collision late yesterday afternoon resulted in the road being closed for three hours and led to traffic disruption in the evening rush-hour.

It happened between Bakers Arms roundabout and Wareham Road at Organford (Organford Cross).

Recovery had to be arranged for the vehicles involved.

Dorset Police were not able to confirm any injuries last night - however they have now provided an update.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: "At 3.49pm on Tuesday 18 June we were called to a report of a three vehicle collision on the A35 at Organford Cross.

"Road closures were put in place as officers dealt with the incident and recovery of the vehicles was arranged. Two people were reported to have sustained minor injuries and were treated by the ambulance service.

"The road was cleared at around 6.55pm.

"The vehicles involved were a red Citroen Berlingo, a silver Ford Fiesta and a black Volkswagen Passat.

The closure led to major traffic congestion in the area as vehicles sought alternative routes. Bus services had to be diverted.

There were reports of heavy traffic in the lanes surrounding the crash scene.
