FANS of Weymouth Football Club were again holding their breath this morning after owner Mel Bush refused to comment on speculation surrounding the future of the club.

The entertainments promoter, who took over the Terras in the summer after former chairman Martyn Harrison had written off the club's debts, was contacted after a source had told the Dorset Echo that a takeover deal for the Blue Square Premier side had been agreed on Wednesday evening.

When questioned about the speculation Mr Bush answered "no comment" but within the next hour club officials announced plans for a press conference, which was due to be held this morning.

This latest drama comes just days after Mr Bush went on record and revealed his delight in regards to the progress that has been made by the club since the start of the season.

When Mr Bush took control of the Terras in July there were two other parties interested in the club. They were former chairman Ian Ridley and local developer Malcolm Curtis.

If Mr Bush does depart then the future of first-team manager Jason Tindall could also be thrown into doubt, as he is the supremo's son-in-law.
