A person in the water near the Kings Statue in Weymouth sparked a response from emergency services.
The incident happened in the early hours of this morning.
Wyke Coastguard was called at 4.49am to reports of a person in the water.
A coastguard spokesman said: “Upon arrival at scene the potential casualties were clear of the water, safety advice was given, and the team were stood down. Departing the scene the marine rescue unit was flagged down to a medical incident, so provided first aid until our colleagues from South Western Ambulance Service arrived. The team then assisted with casualty transfer.”
