Organisers of the Dorset County Show have announced the event’s chosen charity for 2019 is Mosaic, which supports bereaved children across the county.

Mosaic aims to develop a Dorset-wide network of bereavement support specialists for children, young people and their families, as well as working collaboratively with local partners in order to provide a framework of services.

Margaret Hannibal, CEO of Mosaic, said: “Without fundraising from the public, we would be unable to work with these young people.

"We are delighted to be chosen as the beneficiary of the Dorset County Show this year and thank everyone who has made this possible. The money raised will really make a difference.”

The charity will have a stand at the show for anyone who wishes to donate or find out more about the services Mosaic provides across the county.

Rebecca Hill, chairman of Dorchester Agricultural Society, said: “Mosaic provides a valuable support service to children and young people in the county, so we are honoured to be raising vital funds to aid them in their mission of creating a child-centred service.

“We have been fundraising throughout the year so far and will continue to do so for the remainder of 2019.”

Last year, Dorchester Agricultural Society raised £16,500 for Dorset County Hospital Charity’s Cancer Appeal. The funds raised helped create a Cancer and Haematology Outpatients Department, and a new Radiotherapy Unit at the hospital.

In addition to Dorset County Show, fundraising events include the Society’s annual charity evening, taking place on Wednesday, September 4, with special guests Lord and Lady Fellowes of West Stafford. Contact 01305 264249 for further details.

This year's show will be held at the Dorchester Showground over the weekend of September 7 and 8.

Tickets for this year’s Dorset County Show are on sale now, children under 16 go free and early bird adult tickets are available until July 31 for £14. Visit dorsetcountyshow.co.uk for more information.
