A CARE home in Weymouth and two of its staff have scooped awards

Buxton House in Weymouth was awarded Care South’s ‘Pride in our Home’ title at the company's annual Stars Awards ceremony.

The title recognises the home that has gone the extra mile to create attractive and welcoming surroundings and a home-from-home atmosphere for residents, family members and staff. Residents and family members praised the home in the nominations for being a wonderful, happy place.

Meanwhile, the coveted Chairman’s Award was presented to Buxton House’s Deputy Home Manager, Clare Baker. Her hard work, commitment, community work and how much she cares for her team and the home’s residents were all recognised, as well as her commitment to Care South, having worked across several homes over the last seven years.

Best Care Newcomer was awarded to George Wiggins, also from Buxton House. New to the care industry, Mr Wiggins has taken to the role 'fantastically', the firm said, and colleagues and residents praised him in the nominations for his kind and caring nature, the true respect he always shows residents and their families, and how supportive he is as a team member.

Simon Bird, Chief Executive of Care South, said: “We are delighted to have celebrated all the achievements of colleagues at Care South at our tenth Care South Stars Awards. I am always so proud to see the passion and commitment to care delivered day in, day out by our staff across the company.

“Nominations were received from colleagues, residents, relatives and clients and the Care South Stars Awards provide us with the chance to publicly acknowledge and thank our staff for all their dedication and hard work, which makes such a huge difference to the lives and wellbeing of those we care for.”

The Care South Stars Awards recognise and reward individuals and teams from across the company for their outstanding achievements and excellent care provision. Nominees are put forward by colleagues, residents, service users and relatives. The ceremony took place at AFC Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium and celebrated the achievements of staff who received formal qualifications during the year.
