A 26-year-old man from the London area has been sentenced to prison after being arrested while in possession of a knife in Dorchester.

At around 2.40pm on Sunday, June 23, police in Dorchester stopped a vehicle in Church Street that was suspected of being used by the occupants to deal class A drugs in the area.

Police arrested two men from London at the scene on suspected drug offences. A 26-year-old was arrested for possession with intent to supply class A drugs and a 51-year-old was arrested for being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

A quantity of cash, suspected class A drugs and a knife were all seized from the vehicle.

The 26-year-old appeared in Weymouth Magistrates Court on Monday, June 24 and was charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place. He was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison. Both males have been released under investigation for the drug offences.
