Dorset Council is again planning to discuss items behind closed doors.

Four code of conduct complaints are expected to be considered on Friday under exempt business at an audit and governance sub-committee.

The committee, which only has three members, is being asked to discuss all of the complaints in private after considering the resolution: “To move the exclusion of the press and the public for the following item in view of the likely disclosure of exempt information within the meaning of paragraph 1 of schedule 12 A to the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended).”

It is not known whether the complaints are made about a single person, or more than one person, or whether the complaints affect the Dorset Council, or another council.

Dorset Council’s Code of Conduct applies to its 82 elected members and to any co-optees. In addition to the Dorset councillors there are around 1,300 parish and town councillors serving on 163 parish and town councils. Parish and town councils are required to adopt their own codes of conduct but Dorset Council also deal with any complaints that parish/town councillors have breached their codes of conduct.
