WEYMOUTH is set to have a new addition to its nightlife as a gentleman's club opened last night.

Wiggle is setting up shop in the building formerly used by Goldfingers and Peekaboo on New Street as part of the company's expansion along the south coast.

There are already Wiggles in Bournemouth, Southampton, Portsmouth and Southsea and Weymouth is the newest addition to this roster.

Managing Director, Paul Ojla, said: "We are all along the south coast because I live in Titchfield and want to set places up near me.

"There were other establishments there before but now we have taken it over and have completely refurbished the whole building and have taken it up a notch.

"We are very upmarket, not like your typical pole dancing club, we represent a new outlook on pole dancing and lap dancing.

"A huge part of our business has nothing to do with pole dancing or lap dancing. We have a bar area and people like what we provide because it's more upmarket and safe. It's not a tacky bar where a load of idiots will turn up.

"Weymouth is a lot like Bournemouth in that it is a seaside resort that has a nightlife, and we need to be in the heart of the nightlife.

"We are progressing along the south coast and we will continue to keep progressing. If venues open up in Bristol or Cardiff I will probably look at them as opportunities.

"Hopefully we will give the people of Weymouth the class they deserve"

Mr Olja said that around 20 people will be employed at the club.

The grand opening was on Friday night.
