ANY, like me, who are worried that the undemocratic system which is about to elect our next Prime Minister may put their concerns to one side.

On Radio 4 this evening three Conservative stalwarts were questioned about the qualities of the two candidates.

Unsurprisingly, all three were for the untruthful, bumbling Johnson but most worryingly they each put his crowd-pulling amusing performances front and centre as to why they are for

him.

So my vote (if I were permitted one) is for Michael McIntyre as, whether you like him or not, he can tell a joke and hold an audience…his moral, leadership and political competence not, apparently, of any relevance to the position of Prime Minister.
