COUNCILLORS have granted planning permission for 10 homes to be built on the site of a former gym in Waverley Road, Weymouth.
The scheme, by Boldhabit Ltd, involves demolition of the existing commercial building and the construction of nine flats and one maisonette.
Planning permission was previously granted for the site in October 2009, for demolition of the building and erection of 10 flats.
Despite numerous objections regarding the lack of parking provision on the site, potential overlooking of neighbouring properties and loss of views, Dorset Council's planning committee unanimously approved the scheme.
The highway authority said it could not object though it was disappointed to see that there was less than one parking space per dwelling.
