Hi readers, it’s Emily and William here on the train, coming back from London. The sun is still out and we are having lots of giggles and laughs about silly subjects.

Today we presented to National Mencap about the Friendship Club. We told them about how good it is, and about our involvement in it. The aim was to help their staff have a better understanding of how to support friendships for people with learning disabilities. We thought our presentation went quite naturally and it was nice that they were all very friendly, and asked lots of questions. We think they enjoyed hearing about our successes in Dorset.

After Mencap we went to 10 Downing Street and had our pictures taken. We then walked to the Farmers Club. Laura, who supported us today with Jo (who runs the Friendship Club) is a member there, and asked us to choose where we wanted to eat. We chose this! William had to wear a tie and jacket to get in. Unfortunately neither William, myself, Jo or Laura were able to tie a tie, so we politely asked a passing gentleman in Victoria Embankment Gardens if he could assist us in the tying of William’s tie, and he did a great job. Phew!

It is very nice there, and after a quiet look around (people were working and reading books), we sat on the terrace and enjoyed a lovely tea overlooking the gardens, with the Thames in the background. William took a keen interest in the sprinklers, and wondered how long they kept them on the timer for.

We then walked over Golden Jubilee bridge on our way back to Waterloo station, and to Dorset. All in all, a very positive, productive and fun day out.
