The IRONMAN 70.3 athletic event will return to Dorset on Sunday, September 22.

The challenge will involve a 1.2 mile swim in Weymouth Bay, a 56 mile bike ride through Dorset and a 13.1 mile run that passes through Weymouth - a total of 70.3 miles.

It is expected that thousands of athletes will flock to Weymouth to take part in this gruelling test of physical prowess.

Last year's event attracted a record 2,750 contestants, including 60 relay teams.

The regional partners for this year's event include Macmillan Cancer Support, Mr Lees Noodles, Wessex FM and Children with Cancer UK.
