Here is everything you need to know about the Nyetimber Dorset Seafood Festival, coming to Weymouth this weekend.

  • TIME: The festival opens on Saturday from 10.30am-6pm and Sunday 11am-5.30pm.
  • PRICE: The festival is the largest FREE to attend seafood festival in the country.
  • CRAB: Always keen to highlight the importance of sustainability, the festival is focusing on Brown Crab, also known as ‘edible crab’, for 2019.
  • THEME: This year has a best of British theme - English wine, UK seafood, fishermen, producers and chefs will be celebrated .
  • ENTERTAINMENT:There will be two different line ups of national chefs as well as loved local seafood heroes and hands-on sessions to join in with.
  • CHARITY: With the emphasis on responsibly sourced seafood from the region where possible, the festival helps raise money for the Fishermen’s Mission charity.
  • BUS: Enjoy a glass of England’s finest sparkling wine onboard The Nyetimber, a beautifully reimagined 1968 Routemaster bus which offers a luxurious, quintessentially British setting from which guests can relax and admire both the harbour and the award winning beach.
  • HEALTHY EATING: Seafish will be promoting its campaign, ‘Fish 2 a week’, which aims to inspire more people across the country to eat two fish dishes per week.
  • SEAFOOD SELECTION: The Nyetimber Dorset Seafood Festival showcases the largest seafood menu in the UK. With over 40 individual menus already presented, each perfect for pairing with the very best of English sparkling wine from Nyetimber, the weekend promises to be a haven for seafood lovers.
  • LOCAL: Festival organisers request that stand holders use species that are native, seasonal, local and responsibly sourced.
  • ENVIRONMENTAL: The Sustainability Awards at the Festival were set up to encourage stall holders to think about how their produce impacts factors such as the environment and to share their knowledge and skill at preparing and cooking sustainable seafood.
  • ROAD CLOSURES: On Saturday 13 July, between 6am and 8pm AND Sunday 14 July, between 8am and 8pm the following roads will be closed: Custom House Quay between South Parade and Town Bridge, St Thomas Street and Town Bridge between St Edmund Street and North Quay/Trinity Road, North Quay between the access road to the former council offices and Trinity Road/Town Bridge, Trinity Road, Cove Row. There will be other road closures at other times, full details can be found on the Dorset Council website.
  • WEATHER: This weekend is expected to be a scorcher, with temperatures on Saturday reaching 23C and similar figures set for Sunday.
  • PARKING: Visitors are encouraged to use the park and ride at Mount Pleasant and then catch local bus services into town.
