WHAT a superb letter from John Neimer (July 2), he is spot-on about “Britain offered hope to European nationals during the war” and sums it up perfectly.

It is obvious that if Mr and Mrs Tempest had been around during this period they would have backed Neville Chamberlain and his policy of appeasement.

Just as well, like then, there are still many heroes and patriots around!
