DORCHESTER is to hold another event which will close the town's High East and High West Streets for the day.

The Heritage Open Dor event will be held on Sunday, September 15th, to raise the profile of the county town as a heritage tourist destination.

Town councillors have agreed to give £555 towards the cost of running the event – the money will pay for four security staff who will look after key road closures.

The event hopes to build on the success of a similar event in 2018.

Among the attractions planned are tower tours at St Peter's, the County Museum's 'pop up' display; guided tours of the Shire Hall; tours of the Keep, former Mayor David Taylor giving his 'tunnel talks' about the town's underground history and a range of other visits which may include the King's Arms and prison site, depending on their availability at the time.
