Dorset Police has been receiving several calls about children jumping off the A31 into a river, right next to 60mph traffic.
A Facebook post from North Dorset Police asked parents to make sure they know where their children are and to talk to them about the dangers of jumping into the river at this point.
"On the face of it, this seems like a lovely and fun thing to do on a summer's day. However these reports were for the road bridge on the A31 Merley/Wimborne. This is a 60mph road and the young people were on the road edge.
"We do want you to have fun this summer, but there are safer ways and places to have fun.
"Please talk to your children and young people about the possible consequences of using this location."
