A SUMMER celebration can be enjoyed at a village near Weymouth.

OsFest – Osmington’s Summer Celebration takes place on Sunday, August 4 from 12 noon at Osmington Village Hall and parish field.

OsFest has earned itself the reputation of one of Dorset’s best fetes, attracting visitors from all over west Dorset – and OsFest 2019 will be no exception, with live music all afternoon, loads to do and see – and parking and entry are free!

Antiques expert Paul Atterbury, of The Antiques Roadshow, will open the fete.

There will be balloon modelling, face painting, a bouncy castle, raffles, tombola and a plant sale. The book shelf will supply tent-time reading and the very thing that you didn’t know you needed could be hiding in the bric-a-brac.

There are games and stalls and competitions. There will also be a tent, a massage tent, a tarot tent and a valuation tent (is it tat or is it treasure?)

And not forgetting an owl, a master mason, a coconut shy, a story teller, a henna artist and classic cars. And Morris dancers.

Add to all this the Family Fun Dog Show followed by the famous Osmington egg Ttoss in the arena, and the ‘Have a Go at Flyball’ session on offer later in the afternoon for competitive collies and motivated mutts.

Then there’s a photographic competition with A ‘Dorset Wildlife’ theme, an art display and a silversmith, as well as a craft tent housing all sorts of handmade treasures.

Choose a luscious cream tea, or visit the CakeAway, the BBQ or the beer tent, all offering produce from local sources including Osmington’s own Craig’s Dairy. Veggie options are always on offer.

OsFest supports locally involved charities and has raised many thousands of pounds over the years to the benefit of Dorset Air Ambulance, Julia’s House, Riding for The Disabled, Ducks & Drakes Cancer Trust, Margaret Green Animal Shelter and Medidogs, among others. This year, The Dorset Wildlife Trust, St Osmund’s Church and Osmington Village Hall will receive a donation.
