As Weymouth College’s Primary College draws to a close, Year 6 pupils from local schools continued to take advantage of the opportunity to try out some taster sessions in various vocational and academic subjects. Enthusiastic young reporters in the Journalism workshop also continued to question students in other workshops about the options they’d chosen.

Izzy and Natalie, from Radipole, and Willow, from Holy Trinity, 11, interviewed Mia and Keston, also 11 and from Holy Trinity, about Kickboxing in the Sports Hall:

“Mia claimed she chose Kickboxing because she loves fighting and eventually hopes to get a job in the SAS. She really enjoyed the activity because she thinks it could potentially help her in her future career. She said that the course was very instructive and will help her defend herself.”

“Keston said he was interested in Kickboxing because he’s known fighters who’ve grown up to be brilliant. He also explained that he wants to be a professional fighter, and the course was helping him learn how to defend himself!”

Ellie and Jasmine, 11, from Wyke Regis, and Liam, 11, and Sampson, 10, from St Andrew’s interviewed Kaden and Leyla, 11, from Wyke Regis, outside the Singing studio:

“We asked them why they chose this workshop. Leyla replied: ‘because my favourite thing to do is singing’; and Kaden answered ‘because my partner made me do it’. We then asked them what they’d done so far. Kaden said: ‘warm ups and solos’; and Leyla responded: ‘practising Adele songs’.

Landon and Connor, 11, from Chickerell and Edward from Bincombe, 11, interviewed Daisy and Lottie, 11, from Holy Trinity in the Weymouth College kitchen:

“The Cookery workshop was so popular that the majority of students at Primary College had chosen it. The chef taking the workshop puts on phenomenal shows for students, spinning pizza dough. Lottie said: ‘It was awesome when he tossed the dough between his hands. The students’ mouths dropped open and the children were more stunned than they’d ever been before’.”

“Both girls said that Gordon Ramsay was their idol, although they added: ‘he doesn’t work well with many adults’.”
