IT'S nearly that time of year again when a Weymouth park will come alive with summer sounds.

Party in the Park, organised by and supporting community radio station Air 107.2, is returning for the seventh year.

Held at the events arena within Lodmoor County Park, Party in the Park is an afternoon of free family entertainment, including live music, local craft vendors, a food court, charity stalls, a bar and children’s activities.

Party in the Park has been hailed as the 'best free day out in Weymouth'.

First held in 2012, the event has grown to become a very popular event in the town's events calendar. Previous events have been blessed with dry and sunny weather bringing out huge crowds.

Last year it expanded so there was lots of new stalls – including food outlets –and a newly-designated family area, where all the attending charity organisations will be running activities.

This year will have much the same format, and organisers are hoping the sun shines on the day.

The full line-up of main acts this year includes The Undecided, Blazin' Strings, Oasiss, Regulation 9, The Ruff Cutts, The Danny Salamander band and The Modern Disciples, as well as side acts Simon F DJ, Frazer Mitchell DJ, Brown Sauce and Sister Fitness UK.

Organiser of Party in the Park, Venetia Randall, said: “It is our biggest event of the year, and whilst a lot of hard work goes into the planning and running of the day, we would like to thank our amazing performers, visitors, vendors, sponsors and New Look without whom Party in the Park would just be the AIR 107.2 crew standing around on the grass.

“We are very excited by this year’s line-up, and hope that yet again it all runs smoothly and safely.”

The event, which is sponsored by New Look, takes place on Sunday, August 4 between 12pm-7pm at Lodmoor Country Park.
