A bunk-house hostel in Charminster has been approved for holiday use – aimed mainly at walkers and cyclists.

Dorset Council has agreed a planning application for the conversion of an existing barn-style outbuilding, listed as being for educational use, at Cowden, North Street.

The decision was made by a planning officer and did not come before councillors.

The application lists five parking spaces on the site and show the bunk house as being divided into two dormitories with a communal kitchen, dining area and living area.

Access to the site will be off the road to Cowden Farm via Herrison Road.
