Weymouth BID has become one of just 20 BIDs in the country to become accredited.
It has been accredited under the British BIDs accreditation processes.
An accreditation report went before the National BID Advisory Board Accreditation Group.
This means it was assessed in its governance, management, finances, performance and its communication.
Claudia Moore, chief operations officer of Weymouth BID, said: “Accreditation helps provide reassurance to levy payers that effective governance is in place to deliver an accountable structure and partnerships with local agencies which businesses can actively support and engage with in confidence. It is clear to British BIDs that we are committed to improvement and to listening to levy payers.”
A spokesman for British BIDs said: “The Advisory Board wanted in particular to congratulate Weymouth BID in responding to their previous challenges; a great example of a BID listening to concerns and responding in a positive and dramatic way.”
