A FUNDRAISER which was sadly cancelled due to Storm Hannah will take place later this month.

Diane’s 60th Funday was meant to be held in April to celebrate what would have been the 60th Birthday of Diane Bearne.

Diane sadly died in February last year following a battle with bowel cancer.

The fun day which is being held in aid of Weldmar Hospicecare has been rearranged to take place on Sunday, July 21.

Joanne Holmes-Casey, Diane’s daughter, said: “If you remember the event had to be sadly postponed due to the high winds of Storm Hannah, but we are glad to announce it has been re-arranged.

“It’s now set to go ahead on July 21 from 12pm to 6pm at Weymouth Rugby Club.

“We have twice as many stalls and activities.”

Visitors can expect food and drink stalls, a fire engine, a steam train, mini Land Rovers, inflatables for adults and children, rides, animals, vintage cars and more.

Visitors will also be treated to a number of performances on the day from entertainers, choirs, majorettes and belly dancers.

There are also some fabulous prizes up for grabs by taking part in the raffle draw.

These include tickets to Monkey World, the Front Skate Park, Kingston Maurward, Athelhampton House, and many other local attractions.

There will also be a signed official Man United Football to be won.

Mrs Holmes-Casey said: "It's still being held in memory of mum.

"We couldn't fault the treatment she received from Weldmar. They were just brilliant, she received care from nurses at home then went into Joseph Weld Hospice and received a week's care before her death.

"We are hoping for the weather. That's all we are worried about now because we know it's been cancelled before."

Matt Smith, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Weldmar, said: "Diane’s Funday is going to be a great day out for the whole family. Unfortunately this event had to be postponed earlier in the year due to poor weather after a lot of hard work and coordination. We’re incredibly pleased that the event is now going ahead and wish the whole family the best of luck with their fundraising. Support like this is vital to ensure that we can continue providing outstanding end of life care to patients throughout Dorset. Each and every year we are seeing more people call on Weldmar for our help and this is only possible because of the generosity from the community that we serve."

Adult entry will cost a pound while children will be able to attend for free.
