Councillors have welcome the development of a new restaurant in Weymouth.
Weymouth Town Council's Planning and Licensing Committee considered proposals of planning permission for the new Rockfish restaurant, which include installing a new awning box to the shopfront, a new ventilation grille over the entrance door, and displays of illuminated signage.
Cllr Jon Orrell said: "We should welcome this proposal. This is a good quality restaurant."
His sentiments were echoed by other members of the committee, who unanimously declared no objections to the proposals.
Rockfish owner Mitch Tonks says he hopes that Weymouth can become a top foodie destination to rival Padstow in Cornwall which has been transformed thanks to Rick Stein and a number of other leading chefs.
He says Weymouth has the location, produce and potential to develop a thriving restaurant scene.
