An injured woman on a boat was rescued near a Jurassic coast beauty spot.

South Western Ambulance crews rescued the woman from a boat at Lulworth Cove yesterday. A team from Lulworth Coastguard also attended but was later stood down once it became clear that the woman was in the care of paramedics.

Coastguards from Lulworth attended a second call out shortly afterwards, after concerns were raised over five people who were reportedly at risk of being cut off by the tide and possibly in difficulty.

A spokesman for the coastguard said: "It transpired that the people were a local coasteering group and weren’t in any difficulty at all. A false alarm with good intent."
