A SEAGULL was rescued by firefighters after they were called out to investigate reports of a small animal in distress.
One crew from Portland Fire Station was sent to Atlantic Academy on Portland at 6.18pm on Monday, July 22.
When the team arrived, they searched the area and found a seagull that was trapped and hanging in some fishing wire.
The firefighters used a nine-metre ladder to get to the bird and released it by cutting the wire.
Both seagull and crew returned home safe.
