Excitement is building for Weymouth and Portland's first ever Pride event - and it all kicks off tomorrow.

As reported, the three-day festival will be held in Weymouth's Radipole Gardens from tomorrow until Sunday.

Former member of boy band JLS, Aston Merrygold, who is now enjoying a solo career, will be headlining the main stage on Saturday night.

Organisers say it promises to be a family-friendly celebration for everyone to enjoy.

Pride events get underway tomorrow with a walking parade featuring school groups, acts, charities and businesses, starting at Radipole Park Drive at 1pm.

Later on tomorrow, visitors can enjoy a Dorset Echo-backed event – the family fun night from 2pm-9.30pm - which includes an open-air cinema, face painting, glitter, popcorn and candy floss. Tickets cost £5 for adults, £3 for children aged 10 - 16, and children under 10 can enter for free.

The festival gates open at Radipole Park at 12pm on Saturday, for a jam-packed day and evening full of live music, cabaret acts & DJ sets on the main stage. The line-up includes 1990s dance acts Booty Luv & Big Brovaz, Abba Revival, and from BBC1's All Together Now, The Sundaes. It will also feature cabaret acts and tribute bands including Vicki Vivacious and A Touch of Little Mix.

Aston Merrygold will headline the main stage on Saturday evening.

Tickets cost £17.50 on the gate.

There will be a second day of music and entertainment with Pride in the Park on Sunday. Gates open to the gardens at 12pm.

Organisers say Pride in the Park is a day for all the family, showcasing local live music, DJs and entertainment to suit all ages. Local singer-songwriter Finlay Leslie will feature in the line up, alongside Leanne Jackson as Lady Gaga and DJ Matty H who will provide a Closet DJ takeover. The winner of the Street in the Park DJ competition will showcase their talents, and local band The Leggomen will also play.

The jam-packed weekend will culminate with a fireworks display over Weymouth Bay at 9.30pm on Sunday.
