The 71st Shave Cross Marathon, which originally began as a bet between friends, returns next month.
A car treasure hunt will start at Kitty’s Farm, Shave Cross, on Friday, August 2 from 6pm, followed by skittles at 8pm. Everyone is welcome and no local knowledge is needed for the treasure hunt.
On the Saturday, there is a five-mile run on field and road, with entries from 5.45pm.
A licensed bar and barbecue will be available on both nights, with a lamb roast also on the Saturday.
New for this year is a tractor trundle on the Sunday. Come along in your tractor and drive around scenic west Dorset, partly on routes not normally available for public use. Entries from 9.30am on the field at Kitty’s Farm and it costs £10, which includes a bacon roll and coffee. A bar and barbecue will be available on return.
This will be followed by a fun dog show.
Proceeds for this year’s event will be mainly for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.
