I HAVE just seen a report that the new Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Unitary Council has allocated £150,000 to develop an acquisition strategy for the former Poole Power Station.
BCP is considering buying the land at Holes Bay to build 850 homes.
Cabinet members approved the plans, including a possible compulsory order, due to concerns proposals for the site had stalled?
The land is currently owned by Lands Improvement Holdings Ltd.
Could not our own new Dorset Council, do the same for the former prison site in Dorchester?
This has also stalled.
What a wonderful statement it would be if they bought it and built 190 genuinely affordable houses to rent and to buy for our local young people and residents.
There is a huge opportunity here to provide housing for the local population.
If BCP can do it, why can’t Dorset Council do the same? The site shows no sign of being developed.
