Firefighters tackled a building blaze this morning.

Crews from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, along with support from Devon and Somerset FRS, were called to High Street, Gillingham at 1.40am this morning to reports of a building on fire.

The crews found that the first floor of the building was smoke logged, after which the crews requested two further pumps to add to the three they already had at the scene.

An incident command unit from Sherborne was also called to assist.

The fire was found in a storeroom on the first floor, which firefighters with breathing apparatus put out using two host reel jets and two main lines.

Ventilation was carried out, and the incident was scaled down at 3.20am to three pumps, with crews dampening down and assisting with a fire investigation.
