Two men have been arrested in connection with the supply of drugs after a vehicle was searched between Weymouth and Dorchester.

In an update today, a spokesman for Dorset Police confirmed that a 34-year-old Portland man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a class A drug and has been released under investigation.

A 24-year-old man, of an unknown address, was also arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply, and possession of a class B drug.

"He is still assisting with our enquiries", the spokesman added.

Commenting shortly after the arrests yesterday afternoon, Weymouth & Portland Police said that officers from Weymouth Neighbourhood Team stopped a vehicle en route from Weymouth to Dorchester at around 2.30pm.

"Following a search of the vehicle and the occupants, two males have been arrested on suspicion of drug supply offences", they added.

"A large quantity of cash, suspected crack cocaine and heroin has been seized.

"We are committed to keeping class A drugs out of our community."
